medve lesen_

    Europe's largest brown bear population can be found in Romania, their main home territory spreads along the Carpathian Mountains.

   The Romanian brown bear population (only in Hargita county 850- 1050 bears) forms 40% of Europe’s bear population. This high number of individuals makes possible the brown bear hunting in our country. We organize bear hunts at all of the 8 Game Management units in our area.

We are useing the next hunting methods for brown bears:

  • baiting (spring and autumn);
  • stalking (spring and autumn);
  • driving (autumn).

In case of all three methods the presence of a hunting guide is required!

Baiting Place

Hunting at the baiting place:

    It happens at a feeding, baiting place. It is the most comfortable bear hunting method, but also the surest. The essence of this hunting manner is the selection of the big game, meaning the one which size and age are suitable to the guests needs.

   The hiding place may be a high-seat, a hunting- cabin(hut) or natural cover. The rifle range varies between 30-100 meters as the case may be.

   The hunting starts at the early evening, ends at late night.

Bear Stalking

Bear stalking:

  Rarely used bear-hunting method in Romania, because of the carpathian brown bears limited daytime activity. The hunter and the guide are using the commonly named “spot and stalk” method at the frequently used bear trails.

Driven Hunts

Brown bear driven hunts:

   It is another daytime used bear hunting method which can be applied in autumn only. The sportiest from the three hunting manners, but it requires good shooting capability and stamina.

   At the driven hunts there is the opportunity of shooting wild boars, and in lucky cases a wolf or a lynx may appear. For safety reasons the guests and the hunting guides are standing at high-seats, dedicated exclusively for this type of hunt.
